Plagiarism

Now to start things off. . this is probably something that could also fit in the General Discussion, but since people may feel different about it I'll just post it here to make sure.

There's an artist on DA(deviantart) who goes by the alias of jennadelle. I will venture forth and say she's probably one of the most highly watched (millions of dev watches), and highly influential artist that goes to that site. And she is worthy of that status, her work is indeed incredibly. But lately she's had a problem with plagiarism. She's delt with copy cats, before, but they were fairly simple things like people simple taking her drawings and messing with them in Paint. All she had to do was report to the admins and they're be removed. But now she has a really big problem.

She recently discovered a person whose tracing her works, and claiming them as her own. . but that's not all she's done. Jenna uploaded photographs of her in real life a while ago, and this stalker (named Sava) has identical pictures only with herself featured in it, the same pose as Jenna, and the same style of clothing. She also copy and pasted some personal stuff that Jenna put in her blogs and pasted them into her own. She's not just stealing her art. She's trying to be her. Creepy? Fuck yes.

Thankfully, Jenna has photographic evidence to actually pursue legal charges agaisnt this nutcase unless she stops. In the end she'll probably do it anyways, because there's no way to know for sure if she stops in real life. This really creeps me out that humans can stoop so low. *sighs* So what's your opinions on this?

When you mentioned that... I thought first of Adelle S. (the same one that you loved so much from ElfWood... she too is on dA and is having her whole identity stolen ( in the online world anyways )

I will never understand why people decide to do this shit... Yer obviously gonna get cought... I mean, _I_ have never done it... but I know people who have... they THINK the get away with it.. and then get fucked in the end... no plagerism story has a happy ending really. Anyways... its too bad about Jennadelle... Maybe she and Adelle can gang up and remove their stalker/identity theives the old fashioned way... cement... a river... and about an hour ;)

A lot of people on DA have their art stolen. I see it all the time. Since my watch list is a mile long. Razz

Yeah, some of the really popular artists say they get a art theft notice at least once every week. x.x
